Mind/Body Medicine
Mind/body medicine is a complementary therapeutic approach to healing that uses the power of thoughts and emotions to positively influence mental and physical health. The scientific evidence now clearly demonstrates that many illnesses are impacted by our emotional experience and its influence on the body's biochemical stress response.

Some of the diseases or disorders that react to emotions include heart disease, cancer, asthma, irritable bowel, pain, diabetes, infertility, headache, and other chronic conditions such as arthritis. Research also shows that psychological concerns, such as depression and anxiety, have a physical impact on the body and can be aggravated by the ways we respond to the demands of daily living. Thus, learning new ways to manage stress and elicit the body's natural relaxation response can become a key target for creating emotional wellbeing.

Mind/body medicine can also be an important ally in your overall treatment, especially if you are trying to recover from traumatic experiences ranging from disturbing medical events and natural disasters, to assault and abuse. EMDR and hypnosis are two clinically proven examples of these mind/body interventions.

Healthy Balance

Everyone is a house with four rooms: physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual. Most of us tend to live in one room most of the time but unless we go into every room every day, even if only to keep it aired, we are not a complete person.
